Man, I gotta tell you about this whole ordeal I went through getting my hands on this OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the sapphire version. You wouldn’t believe the hoops I had to jump through.
It all started when I saw this watch online. I was just browsing, you know, window shopping, and there it was. The Speedmaster Moonwatch. I’ve always been a fan of OMEGA, especially the Speedmaster line with that whole Moonwatch history. It just looked so darn slick in the pictures. It is a 42 mm, a size I really like. And this one, it was the sapphire crystal version, not the hesalite one. I did some quick searching and saw some similar models, like the Sedna gold one, or the Ref. 310.23.42.50.99.001 that mixes steel and gold, but they just didn’t hit the same. I decided I needed that watch. I just had to have it.
So, I started calling around, trying to find a local dealer that had it in stock. No luck. Everyone was either out of stock or had a waiting list longer than my arm. I even tried looking online, but every site I checked said the same thing: “Out of Stock” or “Backordered.” It was driving me nuts!
Then, I remembered a buddy of mine who’s a big-time watch collector. I gave him a call, figuring he might have a lead. He told me he’d make some calls. A few days later, he calls me back, all excited. He found one! But here’s the kicker: it was an original order, through a private seller, not a dealer. Now, I was a bit hesitant at first. Buying a watch like this, you want to make sure it’s legit, you know? But my friend assured me the seller was trustworthy, and he’d dealt with him before. He even mentioned something about the 3861 movement, which I guess is a better version of the older 1861. Said it’s Master Chronometer certified or whatever that means. Sounded good to me, so I went for it.
I wired the money, and let me tell you, those were the longest few days of my life. I was constantly checking the tracking number, praying that everything was going smoothly. Finally, the day arrived. The package was at my doorstep. I ripped that box open like a kid on Christmas morning.
And there it was. The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, in all its glory. The sapphire crystal was sparkling. The black dial was just perfect. It is beautiful. I strapped it on my wrist, and it felt amazing. It was like a dream come true. It was just perfect, I’m telling you.

I wasted a whole day just staring at the watch.
-
I took a bunch of pictures and showed it off to all my friends.
-
I even wore it to bed that night. (Don’t judge me!)
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I got my hands on this beauty. It was a wild ride, but it was totally worth it. This watch is more than just a timepiece to me; it’s a symbol of perseverance, a reminder that if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen. Even if it takes a little bit of luck and a good friend to help you out. And hey, the Master Chronometer thingy is pretty cool too, I guess.
Moral of the story:
If you really want something, don’t give up. Keep searching, keep asking around, and eventually, you’ll find a way. And trust me, the feeling you get when you finally achieve your goal is unlike anything else. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go admire my watch some more.
