Okay, so yesterday, I tried to remake a Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag, the large one. It’s such a classic style, you know? I’ve always loved how elegant and simple it looks. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.

First, I gathered all my materials. I had this beautiful piece of Saffiano leather that I’d been saving for a special project. The texture is just amazing, all those little cross-hatches. And the color, a deep, rich black. Perfect for this bag. I also made sure I had all the right tools – a good, sharp knife, a sturdy ruler, some strong thread, and of course, my trusty sewing machine. All in all, everything is ready.

I started by carefully studying the original design. I looked at pictures online, trying to get a feel for the proportions and the details. This bag is all about clean lines and precise shapes, so I knew I had to be really careful with my measurements.

Then, I got down to the actual making. I carefully measured out each piece of leather, making sure to double-check everything. I slowly cut out the pieces, taking my time to make sure each edge was perfectly straight. After cutting out the pattern, I carefully stitched the main body of the bag, followed by the lining and the interior pockets. Next, I added the handles, which was a bit tricky, but I managed to get them on nice and secure. The last step was attaching the hardware, like the zipper and the little metal feet. This part took some patience, but I finally got it all in place.

The Process

  • Gathered materials and tools.
  • Studied the original design.
  • Measured and cut the leather pieces.
  • Stitched the main body, lining, and pockets.
  • Added the handles.
  • Attached the hardware.

When I finally finished, I stepped back and looked at my creation. It wasn’t perfect, of course. There were a few little imperfections here and there. But overall, I was really happy with how it turned out. It really captured the essence of the original, that simple, elegant look that I love so * the most important thing is that I did it myself, from scratch. That’s a pretty good feeling. It is a successful try, and I learned a lot during this process, especially about thinking outside of the box when I encountered some problems. I’m so excited to try other classic bags now!

It’s not just a bag; it’s a little piece of art that I made with my own hands. And that’s something special.
