This here Patek Philippe, they call it Calatrava 6007G-011. My oh my, it’s a sight for sore eyes. Some folks say it’s a remake, an original order, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. All I know is it’s a watch, and a pretty one at that. It sure looks like a whole lot of money, that it does. This Patek Philippe Calatrava thing, they say it’s been around since way back when, 1839 or something like that. Long time ago, that’s for sure. Longer than I’ve been around, and that’s saying something!
They say this new one, the 6007G-011, it’s got a black face. And yellow, too. 6007G-001, I think. I seen it in a picture. That there is called a dial, I reckon. Looks like it’s got some fancy patterns on it, too. And the hands, they ain’t flat like on some watches. They stick up, like they’re reaching out to grab ya. It is 40 mm, whatever that means. It is a Patek Philippe 40mm watch, that I know. And it’s gold, they say. White gold. Now, who ever heard of white gold? Gold is supposed to be yellow, ain’t it? But I guess rich folks can have gold any color they want.
This Patek Philippe, this Calatrava 6007G, it ain’t just any watch. It is what you call a “dress watch”, I hear. Fancy folks wear it when they go out to fancy places, I suppose. They say it’s been a dress watch since 1932, goodness that’s a long time ago. I don’t need no fancy watch to tell the time, but I guess some people do. They say it is sophisticated and versatile, whatever that means. It just means you can wear it anytime, I guess.

If you want to buy this Patek Philippe ref. 6007G-011, you have to wait for a long time, maybe 8 years! My goodness, who can wait that long for a watch? Not me, that’s for sure. But they say it is worth the wait, I reckon it is, if you got that kind of money. And that kind of time.
Now, I seen some watches in my day. My old man, he had a pocket watch. Kept it on a chain. Wound it up every day. It wasn’t no Patek Philippe, I can tell you that much. But it told the time just fine. Didn’t need no fancy gold case or nothing like that. Just a plain old watch. But it was special to him. This 6007G, it’s real fancy, with its black dial. Some folks, they like that sort of thing. This watch, it’s all about showing off, I reckon. Letting everyone know you got money.
Back in my day, we didn’t have much. Didn’t need much, neither. We had each other. That’s what mattered. Nowadays, folks are all about things. Fancy watches, fancy cars, fancy houses. They forget what’s really important. This Calatrava watch, it’s a symbol of all that, I suppose. Of a world I don’t really understand. A world where people care more about what they have than who they are. It is a good watch, I guess. But it is just a watch, in the end.
I remember when we got our first clock. It was a big deal. Hung it up on the wall in the kitchen. We’d all gather around to watch the hands go ’round. It was a simple clock. But it was ours. A new dress for my granddaughter. A whole lot of things that matter more than a fancy watch. But hey, that’s just me. An old lady with simple tastes. In a world that’s anything but simple. I reckon this is what they mean by remake Patek Philippe, it is a new watch, but it is like the old ones.
