Okay, here is my experience about the Rolex GMT-Master II, left-handed version:

Yesterday, I went to the Rolex specialty store in Columbus. I heard they released a new GMT-Master II. I was curious, so I decided to check it out in person. This time they’ve added a gray and black ceramic bezel, which is pretty cool I guess.

When I arrived at the store, the place was packed as usual. I waited in line for like half an hour before I could finally talk to a salesperson. I asked to see the new GMT-Master II, and they showed me two versions of them. They said it was made of Oystersteel. It looked quite decent.

  • I tried on the watch.
  • The size and weight felt just right on my wrist.
  • The left-handed crown was a bit strange at first since I’m used to the right side, but it was actually pretty comfortable.

I asked about the price, and man, it was way more expensive than I expected. I mean, I knew Rolex watches were pricey, but this was on another level. I talked to the salesperson for a while longer, asked a few more questions about the features and stuff.

In the end, I didn’t buy the watch. It was just too much for me. But I did get a nice brochure with all the details. Maybe one day when I’m rich, I’ll go back and get one. For now, I’ll just stick to my old watch. After leaving the store, I also browsed a few posts about this watch on craigslist to see if there are some more affordable alternatives, but no luck for now.

Overall Experience

It was a fun experience seeing the new Rolex GMT-Master II in person. The watch is beautiful, no doubt, but the price is just too high. Maybe it’s worth it for some people, but not for me, at least not now. I did enjoy the trip to the store and learned a bit more about Rolex watches. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a collector someday.
