Okay, here’s my story about getting that OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back.
So, I’ve always been a bit of a watch guy. Not like a super-collector or anything, but I appreciate a nice timepiece. And the OMEGA Speedmaster? That’s been on my radar for years. It’s the freakin’ Moonwatch! You know, the one that went to the moon? Come on! Anyway, I finally decided to pull the trigger. I figured, “Hey, treat yourself!”
First things first, I did some digging online. Browsed some forums, watched some videos – you know, the usual. I wanted to make sure I was getting the real deal and not some knock-off. There are a lot of fakes out there, so you gotta be careful.
Once I felt pretty good about what I was looking for, I started hitting up the stores. Now, I live in a pretty big city, so there are a few places that sell OMEGAs. I started with the official OMEGA boutique. Fancy place, let me tell you. They had all the bells and whistles, and the staff was super helpful.
I walked in, all excited, and asked to see the Speedmaster Professional with the transparent case back. I played it cool and casual, like I do this every day. The sales guy brought it out, and man, it was even more beautiful in person. Seeing all those tiny gears and springs working together, it’s just mesmerizing.
We chatted for a bit, he told me all about the history, I pretended I didn’t already know everything! Anyway, I tried it on, walked around the store with it for a while, you know, getting a feel for it, making sure it was just right.
Then, I decided to check out a few other places, just to see what else was out there. Some authorized dealers were having promotions here and there. Found a couple of coupon codes online for some free stuff with purchase, like a fancy carrying case, a new watch strap, or an extended warranty. Who doesn’t love freebies? Nothing wrong with getting the most bang for your buck, right?

- Authorized Dealer 1 – Had a decent selection, but nothing stood out.
- Authorized Dealer 2 – Almost bought it here, they were offering a free NATO strap.
- Some other places – You can walk in and buy a similar one now, but not my style.
The Decision
After a few days of thinking it over, I went back to the OMEGA boutique. I just felt like that was the right place to buy it. After some back and forth, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the damn thing!
It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still in love with this watch. It’s just so cool to look at, and knowing the history behind it makes it even more special. Plus, the transparent case back is a real conversation starter. People always ask about it. No regrets. This watch is a keeper. I’m pretty sure this thing is gonna last forever. It’s definitely an investment.
