Okay, so, I got this thing, this OMEGA X-33 Marstimer, a while back. Saw it online, thought it looked pretty slick. I heard about the Marstimer thing, maybe earlier this year, and it kinda stuck with me. I’ve always been into watches, you know, the ones that look good and have some cool features. This one, it’s supposed to be all about Mars and space and whatnot. That’s what got me hooked. I saw some folks talking about the older X-33 models, but this one, it’s bigger, and I like that. I even tried on the Gen 2 once, and it felt alright on my wrist, but this Marstimer, it just called out to me.
I did some digging, you know, reading up on it. Found out it’s got this quartz movement, the calibre 5619. Some fancy stuff, apparently. It’s supposed to be super accurate, like, really accurate. It can handle all sorts of temperatures, from freezing cold to burning hot. That’s pretty impressive. And it’s got all these functions, like, a long chronograph and some mission time thing. Don’t really know what all that means, but it sounds cool, right?
Now, getting my hands on it, that was another story. I went to an online store finally bit the bullet, and ordered it. When it finally arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Tore open that box, and there it was. Shiny and new. It’s a good-looking watch, I’ll give it that. Big, but not too big. Fits nicely on my wrist.
Trying to figure out all the buttons and stuff, that’s been a bit of a learning curve. There’s a lot going on with this watch. I managed to turn off the display, which is something I heard all the X-33s can do. But yeah, messing with all the settings, that’s taken some time. I’m still not sure what half of it does, to be honest.
The battery is supposed to last for, like, two years, which is pretty good. The 1666 model was accurate to like half a second per day, which is nuts. But yeah, just playing around with it, getting a feel for it. It’s different, that’s for sure. It does not feel cheap, and It’s got a good weight to it. I tried wearing it for a few days, see how it feels in real life.
- It’s definitely a conversation starter. People notice it.
- It’s comfortable to wear, even though it’s a bit on the bigger side.
- I still don’t know how to use all the functions, but I’m getting there.
Is it worth it?
Honestly, I don’t know. It’s a cool watch, no doubt. But it’s also a bit of a gimmick, I think. This whole “Marstimer” thing, it’s just marketing, right? I mean, I’m never going to Mars. But still, it’s a nice watch. If you’re into space stuff, and you’ve got the money, then yeah, maybe it’s for you. But for me, I’m still on the fence. I reckon it’s a good watch. It’s got that classic style. If you like space and stuff, and you got the cash, then go for it. I’d say it’s a pretty good watch, a classic one. It’s probably the best one, to be honest, if that’s your thing. I’m happy I got it, even though I’m still not quite sure what I’m going to do with all these features.
I’ll keep wearing it, keep playing around with it. Maybe I’ll figure it all out eventually. Or maybe it’ll just be a cool-looking watch that I wear from time to time. Either way, it’s been an interesting experience, this whole OMEGA X-33 Marstimer thing.
